I was the lead designer for about two years on Fullscreen's primary initiative - a SVOD platform for millennials. The idea being, we would use our top talent to produce original content, in addition to licensing content to create a service similar to a Netflix or Hulu, but with "cooler" more youth driven features, like our mood based search and GIF creator. The project was a bit of an eye opener. Not only had I never designed such an experience, no one on the initial team knew what we were building. Mostly because direction from the top down was ambiguous and resources were severally lacking. A general content strategy was unknown, licensing took forever and core features were undefined. That said, we forged ahead. Myself and a small group of Product Managers, Developers, and Business Owners, spent amount a year on R&D. We tested a ton of interesting concepts and ideas, including a voting mechanism for content, emoji / mood based reactions, custom players, in player commenting, GIF creation, mood based search, and the list goes on (see more here).
